Colleen and Russ's beautiful Franklin Spring wedding at Cedarmont Farm was even more meaningful because it was up in the air if it would be able to happen but, thankfully, their love conquered every obstacle. Russ is in the army and had a work trip right before their wedding and Colleen couldn’t have contact with him. He was scheduled to come back about 10 days before the wedding, but there was rumors circulating that he was deploying from his location of his work trip which made it uncertain if the wedding was going to be able to happen. A few days later, Colleen was able to hear from him and it was confirmed he would be home for in time for the wedding. The day was beautiful and the happy couple celebrated that much more just to be able to be together on the day they had been planning for so long together. Keep reading to hear more about this sweet couple, their day and Colleen's special thank you surprise for her parents! "I loved the venue from the moment I got out of the car. The venue was something very original and they had endless ceremony spots. After I saw Cedarmont, I knew it was the one!" - Colleen Meet the CoupleColleen and Russ met at Tate’s Bar in Manhattan KS. They love taking their boat out in the summer time with Duke, their chocolate lab. They enjoy hanging out with their families and visiting them back home. They love to be outdoors! The best trip they ever took together was a Caribbean cruise when Colleen graduated from nursing school. The Proposal"We have a chocolate lab, Duke, that we take to a local farm to swim and run around, it was a typical Sunday in November and we went out to the farm to play with Duke and Russ proposed there!" - Colleen The DetailsThe ceremony took place on our gorgeous terraced lawn with ivory rose petals scattered down the entire aisle. Colleen and Russ got married under our wooden arch that was adorned with greenery, pops of florals and white draping that was delicately placed giving a romantic vibe! Colleen's bouquet had greenery and white florals with a special sentimental wrap that incorporated part of her grandma's wedding dress and her grandfather's handkerchief that a friend made! The reception was elegant and classic with white chiffon runners, floral compotes, gold accents and taper candles giving off a delicate romantic glow. At the end of the night the couple exited to cheers and lots of beautiful sparks and celebration from cool sparkle fountains. Special Details from the Day"My favorite part of the wedding was having everyone we love in the same room. Someone told me the week we got married 'you will never have that many people you love in the same room until the end of your life'. I instantly did not care about one single detail from that point forward. You can have the prettiest flowers or the most extravagant dress but at the end of the day the people are what matters. Russ is in the army and I’m a nurse so we have had our fair share of missed holidays and family time so having this day with all of our people was so special to us. Also my parents were so helpful planning the wedding... they came to every single meeting traveling from Kansas City multiple times to make sure everything was perfect. I struggled to find a way to repay them, no gift could match what they did for me. They have been married for over 30 years so I surprised them with what my dad thought was a first look between me and him and it turned out to be my mom. And the photos turned out great and this was just a simple unique way to give a gift that will last for forever! I also lost both of my grandparents within 4ish months of each other leading up to my wedding. I was there only granddaughter and dreamed of having them at my wedding my entire life. My grandma even made me a little wedding dress when I was a little girl and I would have pretend ceremonies where they would watch me walk down my fake toilet paper aisle. The weeks leading up to the wedding, I was really sad but I knew they were there in spirit. My parents got to my house a few days before the wedding and she had a gift for me. It was my grandpa’s white handkerchief that he always had with him, and then one of her friends had taken a piece of my grandma’s wedding dress and made it into something I could wrap around my bouquet. So I carried both of those things with me down the aisle. Russ’s grandpa also said the blessing before dinner at our reception and that was a special moment for us too! The day goes by so fast and you are so busy, I loved that we had a table that was just us for dinner. It gave us a few minutes to look around and soak everything in and we got to talk!" Wedding Advice from the Couple"Wedding planning is so fun and exciting but at the end of the day having the people you love surround you is all that matters. I also could not be more impressed with the Cedarmont team and how hard they work to make sure your big day is perfect. Not only is Colleen and her team so creative with designs and layouts, but they really made wedding planning so easy, low stress and fun! And the team of people on your day is incredible and they keep you on track. They really take all the stress away so you can enjoy yourself. I have zero regrets and would recommend them over and over again. The flexibility of the venue made it possible to make whatever we wanted come true."
