Izzy and Austin's Nashville barn wedding at Cedarmont Farm was full of personal details and uniqueness. From the beginning of our planning with them it was clear that Izzy was very creative. She showed up to our decor meeting with a beautifully illustrated journal of wedding notes and flowers she loved. The ceremony was short and sweet set against the backdrop of Larson Floral Co's greenery circle arch in the tiered ceremony area at Cedarmont. As individuals, and as a couple, they hate being the center of attention, so they told their close friend who was officiating "just do something simple and generic". He surprised them with a short but incredibly personal, touching, and beautifully written ceremony that had everyone fighting back tears. After the intimate ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour then on to the reception in the event barn. The decor was boho and earthy with lots of greenery and botanicals. Izzy handmade the seating chart cards, with flowers she picked in her neighborhood, as well as the invitations and the boxes for the favors (little seed sprouting faces)! One of our favorite design aspects of the wedding was the mismatched bridesmaids dresses Izzy chose in a variety of colors and textures. The whole day was both beautifully elegant and authentic, much like Izzy and Austin. How They MetIzzy and Austin met at the children's hospital in Memphis. Unfortunately Austin had stepped away from the job before they had a chance to really hang out. Luckily, they matched on Tinder just a couple of months later. After some talking, they went on their first official date as a couple. They've been by each other's sides every day since then. The Proposal"He proposed to me on "Match Day" during his last year of medical school. This is when all of the fourth year students find out which residency program they will be spending the next few years at. He was doubtful, but Austin got in at one of the most established hospitals in my hometown, New Orleans. Emotions were running high while students either cheered about their success or suppressed the unfortunate news. Austin had asked me to step outside and catch a break from all the excitement. On the way out, I noticed his parents giving each other a nod, confirming the suspicions I had been having. He walked us to a private area of the garden we were in and gave a beautifully heartfelt speech. After enjoying the moment together, we made our way back to the event, and saw all of our friends waiting to congratulate us. Later that day my Mom and sister showed up to "surprise me". We had an unforgettable weekend celebrating the end of medical school and our engagement! Advice for Wedding PlanningPlan what is important to you as a couple. Unless you're financially blessed, you won't be able to afford everything on your wishlist. Everyone will want to give you their two cents on things, but just take it with a grain of salt. Remember that it's your special day, and not theirs. When it comes to splurging, make a list of what you are wanting to spend the extra money on; We hate being in front of the camera so we automatically knew we weren't going to waste money on a videographer. Colleen and I put a lot of thought into the bigger visual designs of that day and I ended up hand crafting the invites and seating chart!
